Water Pointe’s Debra Duvall Receives Leadership Award Business Development Board of Martin County presents 2020 Charlene Hoag Leadership Award to Debra Duvall

Each year, the Business Development Board of Martin County presents the Charlene Hoag Leadership Award. The recipient is an individual who has worked in Martin County for at least a decade and holds characteristics including devotion to family and vocation, commitment to servicing the community, and leadership toward the goal of improving our quality of life. This person has made outstanding contributions locally, demonstrated high ethics standards, held a strong sense of community responsibility, and made a difference in Martin County by giving selflessly to others.

Water Pointe Realty Group is proud to honor the 2020 recipient of the Charlene Hoag Leadership Award – Debra Duvall.

Charlene Hoag was a former Martin County Commissioner with a long history of being involved with her community. Those who knew her have said she didn’t just talk about issues, but actively worked to address and resolve them. They emphasized that while her resume may tell the story of her involvement, it was her actions that truly spoke volumes about her commitment to the community and the quality of her leadership.

Debra is… “somebody who embodies Charlene’s philosophy in giving of yourself. The things you’ve done just for this year in particular … you’ve given your time, your talents, your money, and always have,” said Ted Astolfi, CEO of the Economic Council of Martin County and 2017 Hoag Award winner.

Debra is truly passionate about investing in the community and she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Historical Society of Martin County (Elliott Museum and Gilbert’s Bar House of Refuge) and the Economic Council of Martin County. She has held numerous positions with the Realtor® Association of Martin County including serving as its President; Chairman of the Professional Standards and Grievance Committees; Education Chairman; Secretary-Treasurer; and Chairman of the Finance Committee. She has been honored by her peers as the recipient of the Realtor® of the Year award in 1998 and again in 2003. Additionally, she has previously served on the Boards for the American Cancer Society, Education Foundation, and many others.

Dedicated to promoting professional standards and excellence, Debra has led many real estate training programs and seminars, both locally and nationally. She has been recognized as a peer mentor and former national convention speaker for Howard Brinton’s Star Power group and the National Association of Realtors® CRS Residential Specialist Conventions.

“We are extremely proud of Deb, and I can’t think of a better person to receive this award. Deb leads by example and encourages others within the firm to follow their passion and give back to the community that has provided so much to us”, said Dave Derrenbacker, Co-Broker and founding member of Water Pointe Realty Group. Dave was instrumental in orchestrating the surprise presentation to Debra at the firm’s Sewall’s Point office – all in a safe way with everyone masked up and socially distancing.

What Debra does for the community is so important and although she is extremely humble, she is an excellent example of how others can assist people, charities, and organizations that play an integral part in our community. As Realtors®, the agents of Water Pointe serve the community in many ways. A common phrase heard at this firm is, “WE KNOW IT. WE LIVE IT. WE’LL HELP YOU FIND IT.” This speaks to its desire to assist local residents and those hoping to become local.
