Educating the Realtors® of Tomorrow

One of the area’s largest independent firms recently opened its doors to local college students interested in gaining an overview of the real estate industry.

Water Pointe Realty Group hosted its inaugural “Intro to Real Estate” from July 22 to July 26, where participants were able to obtain unique insight into various fields within the industry. The week-long workshop welcomed college students who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in a real estate-related field. The program allowed them to get an up-close look into the many facets of the industry by shadowing brokers, agents, and various professionals.

“We are very happy that we could share a little bit of our industry with these outstanding students,” said Dave Derrenbacker, founding broker/owner of Water Pointe Realty Group. “They’re the next generation of graduates, and it is so important for us to be able to give back and provide them with a snapshot of the industry.”

Michael Cilurso, a junior at the University of Central Florida, and Parker Racine, a junior at Florida State University, were this year’s selected participants. Managing Broker Bill Dean said the two young men “impressed [me] all week long.” The topics covered include residential real estate, property management, finance & lending, residential & commercial construction, commercial real estate, and real estate law.

“The students shared with me that they were very pleased with their experience and felt the information they gained was invaluable,” said Derrenbacker. “Based on their feedback, we will definitely look into doing this again next year.”

Water Pointe would like to thank the following for sharing their knowledge and experience, as their participation contributed to an outstanding week: Marissa Moliero with Martin County Realtors® of the Treasure Coast, Wendy Bentley with Water Pointe Realty Group, Jeff Miller with Management Specialists, George Haley & staff with CenterState Bank, Roy Warren with New Market Strategies, Kevin Sargent with SWBC Mortgage Corp, Jeff Bowers & staff with Masterpiece Design Build, Ryan Strom with Team Parks Construction, Reed Hartman with Hartman Real Estate, and Kaitlin Guerin with Gunster & Co.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this experience, and would like to be considered for next year’s class, please reach out to either Dave Derrenbacker or Bill Dean by calling 772-220-4343.

26th Annual Town of Sewall’s Point 4th of July Bike Parade & Festival

Water Pointe Realty Group is proud to be the sponsor for the 26th Annual Town of Sewall’s Point 4th of July Bike Parade and Festival. Each year, the community comes decked out in their finest red, white & blue for the neighborhood Bike Parade which terminates at the town park across from the Sewall’s Point Town Hall and Police Station. On Thursday, July 4, 2019, neighbors and friends joined together to celebrate our independence from 8:45AM till noon, participating in a parade, games, water slide, refreshments, and good ol’ American fun.

The Water Pointe Realtors® assisted the town in handing out patriotic flare, manning the booths providing refreshments, and joined right in on the fun and games. All sorts of prizes were handed out to the winners of the races, but the real award went out to Chief Tina Ciechanowski for 30 years (and counting) of dedicated service to the Town of Sewall’s Point. To celebrate, she took a trip down the water slide – in full uniform! That video footage can be seen on the Town of Sewall’s Point’s Facebook page.

“The Town’s 4th of July celebration is all about community,” says Chief Tina Ciechanowski. “Each year, Sewall’s Point residents flock to this gathering, which started out twenty-six years ago, as a morning bike ride to High Point with decorated bicycles.   Over the years, through the partnership with Water Pointe Realty Group, this event, and its popularity continues to grow. The Police Department loves working with the Water Point Team to bring families, the Town and Police Department together to enjoy a fun-filled morning together.”

“We know it. We live it. We’ll help you buy or sell it.” is a common phrase you will hear from Water Pointe agents. Because they are a part of the communities in which they live and work, they have a heart for helping their clients with their real estate needs.

Bill Dean Wins RPAC Charity Event

Water Pointe Realty Group prides itself on being extremely involved with the Treasure Coast community. On May 7th, Martin County Realtors® Political Action Committee hosted the annual Celebrity Bartending Event at Sailor’s Return in Downtown Stuart. Water Pointe’s very own managing broker, Bill Dean, won the event, and along with his fellow celebrity bartenders, raised over $5,000 in only two hours.

The Realtor’s Political Action Committee (RPAC) isn’t Republican, it isn’t Democratic, it doesn’t represent the independent voter, and it doesn’t buy votes. It is simply a strong voice– and sometimes the only strong voice– fighting for Florida’s Realtors® and homeowners in Tallahassee.

“The ability to own property is the foundation of our freedom, and through RPAC we have a voice in preserving and protecting our private property rights,” said Bill Dean.

Digital Presence in Real Estate

Water Pointe Realty Group has prided itself on creating and maintaining personal and personable relationships with its customers. Knowing that the majority of real estate searches are performed online, the firm sent its production staff, Angel McLellan and Elizabeth Huggins-Thompson, to the National Seminars Training ‘Digital Marketing Boot Camp’ in an effort to continue Water Pointe’s edge in regards to online presence.

Both McLellan and Huggins-Thompson are marketing coordinators who manage all facets of advertising and branding for four of the firm’s locations, six partners, and more than 70 real estate agents. With an intention to expand their knowledge and skills, they attended the seminar that covered topics such as digital marketing strategies, best practices of content use, result-driving tactics, analytics and data analysis, and digital media optimization.

“Participating in this training seminar really put into perspective where we currently stand with our online presence, as well as where we would like to take the company in terms of communications in the real estate industry,” said McLellan, who is based in the Willoughby office in Stuart.

According to the National Association of Realtors®, 99 percent of millennials search online websites when looking for real estate information—compared to 89 percent of Boomers and 77 percent of the Silent Generation. With these numbers, Water Pointe Realty Group understands the need to implement the latest developments on all fronts to effectively promote their elite Realtors® in the ever-growing digital marketing world. The NAR promotes the idea that real estate professionals must strive to fully harness all capabilities of online marketing in order to meet the ever-increasing needs of consumers who want convenient, accurate information.

“Water Pointe Realty Group understands the extra efforts required to keep on the cutting edge of marketing in the real estate industry,” said Huggins-Thompson, who is a designer based in the Sewall’s Point office. “With the completion of Digital Marketing Boot Camp, we feel better equipped to serve the relationships we develop with our clientele.”
