City of Port St Lucie

Best City in Florida

In 1958, General Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Mackle Brothers, bought tens of thousands of acres of land along the St. Lucie River in the southern part of the county in order to build a new community. Population and building booms in the late 20th century led to the formation of other areas west and south of Port St. Lucie including St. Lucie West and the new master planned community of Tradition. In 2015, St. Lucie County celebrated its 110th birthday.

Between 2000 and 2010, St. Lucie was one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. With a total population increase of more than 80,000 during that time frame, and a total area of 688 square miles, the demographics and labor force continue to diversify into a more knowledge-based economy.

The Treasure Coast offers more than just sun and surf on miles of pristine beaches. Here you will find dozens of golf courses, quality shopping opportunities, fine cuisine and family owned cafes throughout the tree-lined streets of this laid-back, authentic Florida atmosphere.
